John's original handcrafted metal fish sculptures are cut from steel sheet metal.  They are fanciful abstractions of real species, mostly Gulf coast game fish and tropical reef fish.  The fish begin with a pattern that is plasma-cut and worked in the chase and repousee' style on the shot bag and steel post.  This crafting style is in the time-honored tradition harkening back to medieval suits of armor.  Modern tools, hand tools, and chemical patinas, and enamel paints combine to enhance the intricate detail work on each fish.  Most are between 28" and 48" and stand about 3-5" from the wall.  His inspired design and exceptional quality make each piece a visual delight.

John Barber is an award-winning metal artist whose work is widely collected.  His work is in galleries across Texas and is prized for its visceral detail.  Each is a one-of-a-kind work of art that will bring joy to you each time you view it.
